Overview

Sail a traditional dhow to a white sandbank, snorkel over coral gardens, then share a seafood lunch on a quiet island beach.

The favourite day out for our guests in Zanzibar. A wooden dhow takes you out across the calm water of Menai Bay, a protected marine area south of Stone Town, where dolphins are often seen in the morning.

At low tide a bright white sandbank appears in the middle of the sea — perfect for a swim and photos. Then the crew anchors over a coral garden for snorkelling (masks and fins provided), before a long lunch of grilled fish, lobster, rice and tropical fruit on a small island beach.

The afternoon sail home is slow and quiet. Hotel pick-ups are included from Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa and the east coast.
