The favourite day out for our guests in Zanzibar. A wooden dhow takes you out across the calm water of Menai Bay, a protected marine area south of Stone Town, where dolphins are often seen in the morning.
At low tide a bright white sandbank appears in the middle of the sea — perfect for a swim and photos. Then the crew anchors over a coral garden for snorkelling (masks and fins provided), before a long lunch of grilled fish, lobster, rice and tropical fruit on a small island beach.
The afternoon sail home is slow and quiet. Hotel pick-ups are included from Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa and the east coast.
Pick-up from your hotel and drive to Fumba. Board the dhow at 09:30 and sail into Menai Bay. Swim on the sandbank, snorkel over the reef, then enjoy a seafood lunch on an island beach. Sail back in the afternoon and return to your hotel by 17:00.
B = petit-déjeuner, L = déjeuner, D = dîner
